Peer Mentors

The Peer Mentors are a group of twenty Year 6 pupils who have been trained to support younger children within school. Peer Mentors provide advice and guidance whilst acting as a positive role model. The role of a Peer Mentor is to support, guide, develop resilience and character.

Peer Mentors have a positive impact on the mental health of both mentors and mentees, with benefits including improved  self-esteem, increased empathy and reduced anxiety. Peer Mentors offer support through play, listening and giving younger children a safe space.

We meet on a weekly basis to discuss new ways of supporting pupils in younger year groups, with fun and creative ideas. Peer Mentors interact with younger children on the Key Stage 1 playground.
