Teach a range of tools and techniques that pupils use when working as Historians to improve their knowledge and understanding through enquiries about significant events, people and changes. Develop chronological thinking. Applying skills and processes to finding, organising, selecting, analysing, critiquing and interpreting primary and secondary sources of evidence. Develop data gathering skills through class based enquiries and fieldwork investigations. Understand the use of statistics when looking at patterns relating to History. Communicate historically including speaking and listening (oracy) and writing at length. Integrate History skills within the context of relevant, engaging and appropriately challenging key question led enquiries. |
Use an enquiry planning process: Identify the appropriate subject outcomes for the stage of learning; |
Express a love for the world, environment and people who share God’s planet through remembering events that have had an impact. Learn about causation and effect of significant events. Grow an intellectual and realistic awareness of people and periods which have changed the course of History, gaining a view of the world around has come to be and how it is changing. Identify connections, contrasts and historical trends over time in relation to the people and events that they investigate. |
