St Joseph’s is following current government advice in all matters relating to COVID-19. Since March 2022 when the final Covid restrictions were lifted the UK Health and Security Ageny (UKHSA) has advised that COVID-19 should be managed like other respiratory infections, such as flu.
COVID-19 presents a low risk to children and young people. This, combined with high vaccination rates in the population, means there are no longer specific rules relating to COVID-19 in schools, colleges, childcare and other education settings.
For children and young people aged 18 and under who test positive for COVID-19, the advice is to try to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for three days. This is because children and young people tend to be infectious to other peole for less time than adults.
School is mandatory for all pupils and all pupils are expected to be ready for the school day whether attending physically or virtually. St Joseph's is happy to support families that need help during these difficult times. Please contact the office to speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team should you seek any type of support.
If there is any reason why your children cannot attend school, please telephone the school by 9.00am on every day of absence. This is a very important safeguarding measure so that we know the whereabouts and welfare of all children. If you are unable to contact the school by telephone, you may email absence@stjosephschalfont.school with absence information.
